DETROIT LAKES — Jared Nathan Danielson, 31, of rural Audubon has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.
According to court records, about 8 a.m. on July 21, a trooper tried to pull him over for not wearing a seatbelt on Highway 59 south of Detroit Lakes.
Instead of stopping, Danielson turned right on 110th street, then drove through a stop sign and turned right on 260th Avenue.
He accelerated southbound and a short time later, turned onto a gravel road in the Vergas Trails. Danielson rolled his black Ford Ranger a short time later. He was not injured and was arrested. He told the trooper he knew he had expired registration and that he had a warrant.
On July 29, he posted $2,500 cash bail and was released. An omnibus hearing was set for Sept. 12.
Melinda Jean Jones, 35, of Mahnomen has been charged in Becker County District Court with both felony and gross misdemeanor counts of fifth-degree controlled substance crime, and misdemeanor driving without insurance.
According to court records, on April 24, the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer that she was riding in was pulled over in Detroit Lakes for having no registration displayed and a non-working left brake light and blinker.
During an inventory of the vehicle, an officer found several items of paraphernalia in plain view, including burnt tinfoil, hypodermic needle caps, and micro baggies. He also located small blue sterile waters, caps for mixing the water and drugs in, and additional hypodermic needles.
In the center console was another hypodermic needle and a small Ziploc style baggy that contained a white powder believed to be either meth or heroin residue.
Behind the driver seat was another hypodermic needle containing 20 units of a clear brownish red liquid believed to be heroin. During the transportation of the suspects, both admitted to being heroin users. The baggy with residue did not field-test for meth, however it did react to an opiates test. It was sent to a BCA lab for testing.
On July 21, Jones failed to make her first court appearance and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On Aug. 10, bail was set at $200 or bond at $2,000, with conditions, or bond at $10,000 with no conditions of release.
Her next court appearance is set for Sept. 19.
